In this course, students will study the normal acquisition of speech and language in infants, children, and adolescents. Speech and language development will be studied in relation to the development of cognitive, perceptual, motor, emotional, and social skills. Theories of language acquisition and methods of assessing language will be discussed. The emergence of literacy in relation to language development will also be addressed.
